About Us

Meet the staff of Axe & Timber.

Stephen Dombowsky

Business Owner / Climbing Arborist

My name is Stephen Dombowsky. I started Axe & Timber Tree Care nine years ago now. I am married, with 5 kids, and I live on a small hobby farm East of Moose Jaw. I have always loved trees. When I was a kid, growing up on the farm which was barren of any trees, we fought desperately to grow little saplings. As a boy I would haul buckets of water each day and check on the small trees. Decades later I enjoy these same trees and care for them if my mom doesn't get to them first

I started this business because I value trees, and the benefits they offer. I heat my house with firewood. The mulch helps our garden grow. But I had no idea when I started how much I would love climbing trees and learning all about them. I've become very good at assessing the trees, and determining what needs to happen to best meet the needs of the client and the needs of their trees. I have taken alot of training over the years as well, to best understand the inner workings of the tree and how it grows and how to help aid natures beautiful process. I hope I am able to climb for many more decades to come, but whatever the future entails, I will keep planting them.

Josh Beckett

Lead Groundsman / Safety Officer

Hey I'm Josh. I have a lovely wife and 4 kids. Born and raised in Moose Jaw. I have 2 dogs and my favourite show is "The Office".

I've been working for Axe and Timber since May of 2019. My skills and abilities have been pushed and molded to a whole new level. No other job or boss has ever pushed me to be a better person like this one has. I am honored to say that this has been the best place I have ever worked at. I really respect the professionalism, and the regard for safety to property and the people that we have worked with. I couldn't have asked for a greater place to work.

Landon Miller

Groundsman

My name is Landon Miller. I live in Caronport with my wife Alicia and have been working with Axe & Timber since August 2022. I got interested in tree work when I was doing general landscaping over the summers between my years in college. I was allowed to do pruning and removals and was interested in the wide variety in the job. This year, I was able to work with the entire life cycle as I transitioned from a summer of tree planting in BC and Alberta to working with Axe & Timber. Planting showed me a different side of working with trees and grew a love of working outside. I spend most of my days chipping branches, rigging logs, and staring in to the sun trying to see what Stephen is doing up in the tree. The work has been stretching both physically and mentally but I’m grateful for the lessons and experience brought on by difficult work. When I’m not working you can find me climbing rocks, at the library with my wife, or being the shortest one on the pick-up basketball court.

Lincoln Dombowsky

Rookie Groundsman

Lincoln is the oldest son of Stephen Dombowsky, and has been coming out to visit Dad at his job sites ever since the business was created. On select jobs he would come help pick up branches with dad and make some money.

In 2022 Lincoln showed capability and strength on the actual job site. He e is being taught basic pruning skills, and specializes in hauling branches.

This young man holds real potential and we are excited to teach him and see his skills grow.
